5 Things you must carry in your backpack while travelling in public transport in India.
1. ‘Keep the Change’
“Bhaiya khulle paise to nahi hain” is one of the worst nightmares for the people travelling in Public transport, especially embarrassing when there is a whole queue standing behind them to get their tickets.
Always try to carry lots of small denominations money bills and coins because nobody will accept a ₹2000 note on a city bus. If you are a frequent traveller, it’s smart to buy a ‘smart card’. Always keep the change handy so that you don't have to tear your bag apart to find that ₹2 coin.
2. Power Banks
I totally feel, “Ye Bhaag-Daud bhari zindagi, RUKNA mana hai”. Mobile phones running out of battery is the new stress we netizens suffer from.
You don’t want your phone to die because if it does, you’ll have to listen to the honking traffic and the buzz of co-passengers. So, carry a good quality Power Bank while travelling in Public Transport. Also, carry a charger with you all the time, because, why not?
3. Wet Wipes
Sweat, odour, dust and pollution becomes your daily co-passengers here. India has an extremely Humid climate. And Public Transport here is generally not air-conditioned. Scarcity of public transport in our country leads to a high density of daily commuters in these means of commutation. Carrying a pack of Wet Wipes and napkins is a good idea because no matter how much scrub you use while washing your face, after riding Public transport, it will be covered in a layer of sweat and oil.
4. Pepper Spray
If you think ‘Prevention is better than Cure’, you must invest in a Pepper Spray Can. If you are a woman, you will, for sure, get face-to-face with one of those creeps trying to grab you or just stalk you. Also, two ‘bravehearts’ on a bike might try to snatch away your purse and hurt you. When this happens, take out that Pepper Spray Can and give them the burn of their lifetimes!!!
This ₹200 investment can save you from a lot of problems.
5. DROR Safety App
Public Transport in India is usually not very safe. Every year, thousands of cases of Eve-teasing, Groping and snatching with women takes place in Public Transport facilities. God forbid if something like this happens with you, having the DROR Safety App in your mobile can really help. You can ask for help from the huge #DrorCommunity which is full of social heroes who can reach for your aid by tracking your location. You can also get the Heat Map your city, showing which parts of it are safe to travel.
One-click SOS feature can also alert your friends and family in case of an emergency. You can download the Dror App from Playstore.
