Miss Universe India 2010 Ushoshi Sengupta recentlytook to Facebook to share the horror she went throughon the streets of Kolkata on Monday Night.Ushoshi's Facebook post narrates the whole incidentwhere some local goons from the Bhawanipur area ofSouth Kolkata hit her Uber cab and then started beatingup the driver of the Cab. When Ushoshi stood her standand started recording the goons in her mobile camera, they tried to subdue her and snatch away her phone.A Policeman was right there but he hesitated to take anystrong action and tried to convince Ushoshi that hecouldn’t do anything because the area of the incident, which was literally just 100 meters away from him, liedin the jurisdiction of a different Police Station. After the scuffle, those goons followed Ushoshi to herhouse and stopped her car a few meters away from herhome and went for another unsuccessful attempt ofdestroying the video evidence she had in her mobile bybreaking it up. But she raised the alarm by screamingand was rescued by her family and neighbors. This whole incident shows that no matter how manyspeeches on the topic of Women empowerment aregiven in the UN every year, or how many new schemesfor Women safety are being launched every now-and-then, when a situation like the Ushoshi’s arises, noestablishment can be of more help than the#Community itself.Imagine, if Ushoshi and everyone, like her Uber cabdriver, had the #DRORSAFETY mobile app in theirMobile phones, where all they had to do is press theSOS button to instantly notify all their nearby contactsthat they were in some kind of distress. Their contactcould have tracked their live location and could havehelped them before any more of that savageryhappened with them.Guess how much Crime can be controlled if everyonestarts using the #DRORSAFETY mobile applicationwhich provides Live Location tracking, SOS services, regularly updated Heat Maps showing the levels ofcriminal activity in a city, Safety tips for everyone, andhundreds of other innovative and necessary features. We strongly believe in the idiom,“Prevention is better than Cure”.#DRORSAFETY mobile app is a medium of preventionso that one does not have to wait for the cure to bediscovered.
